High school spirit wear is a great way to create excitement for an event. In addition, spirit gear can be an excellent way to fundraise for your school. Here are some tips to consider when creating your high school spirit wear designs.
1 – Use School Colors and Mascot for Design
To start, consider some of the basics for your design. For spirit wear, you want to include your school/team name and colors. You might even want to include your mascot. No matter what you decide to include, a simple, clean design tends to be the best for spirit wear. Consider using bold typography, paint splatters, and any graphics related to your school or mascot. And of course, bright colors are always a hit with students.
2 – Create a Simple Layout
Your goal is to invoke school spirit within your student body and your layout goes a long way toward achieving that. One t shirt design layout to consider is as simple as a large and centered logo or graphic. Your school pride is front and center and can’t be denied. Placing a large logo or graphic on the back of your gear is also a great option for a bold and centered design. Another option is to place your logo on the front pocket (if you’re using a hoodie or pocketed sweatshirt). No matter what you decide, be sure that your logo is bold and can easily be seen by all.
3 – Limit the Number of Designs Offered
It can be tempting to offer a wide array of designs for your students and parents to choose from once you see all of the different options available, however, that can be quite costly. Try to limit your selection to a few items. With more options, it is likely that fewer of each item will sell. In most cases, your quote for printing is based on the minimum amount of items purchased. So, if you don’t sell the minimum, your price will go up which can be expensive. With that said, consider what types of clothing you want to offer. Many students love crew and v-neck shirts, baseball or football-style t-shirts, long sleeve t’s, and hoodies and sweatshirts. By offering several types of gear, you are sure to find something that works for everyone.
4 – Review the School Dress Code
This one can make or break your design. You might have a great design, but if the students can’t wear it, what’s the point? Many schools have dress codes and printing your high school spirit wear designs on gear that can’t be worn is a way to ensure your design won’t be seen (in addition to being very costly). Be sure to check the dress code before selecting the types of clothing you offer. For example, many high schools do not allow students to wear tank tops so that might be an item to avoid.
