Never Do in a T Shirt Design

3 Things You Should Never Do in a T Shirt Design

Are you trying to create your own t shirt design but feeling overwhelmed with all the options? T-shirt design can be a fun way to express your ideas or brand, but can prove to be a bit tricky at times. Fortunately, we aren’t new to this game and have some helpful tips to get you rolling on your design.

1 – Don’t Overcomplicate Your Design

We can all appreciate a well-executed, detailed design on a t-shirt. However, extremely detailed designs can get muddled resulting in a less-than fabulous t-shirt. Some of the best designs we see are the simple, classic designs that get the point across.

If you are looking to go with a more detailed design, consider displaying your design on a mock-up before investing in the printing costs. This will allow you to get a feel for how your design will come out and make any necessary adjustments before taking the final leap.

2 – Don’t Choose the Cheapest Fabric

T-shirts inherently are designed for comfort and there is nothing worse than an itchy t-shirt. It is important to choose a type of shirt that will be comfortable for regular wear. If you have a killer design but an uncomfortable shirt, that takes away from the overall product resulting in your design being worn less often (and less exposure of your brand).

3 – Don’t Send Low-Quality Art Files to Your Screen Printer

A good design is only as good as the quality of the file you send for printing. If you are unable to go over your designs in person with your printer, be sure to send over the highest quality files possible and ensure that your printer can adapt your artwork to their machines.

Also, be sure to check with your printer that they received the correct file from you prior to printing. Misprints can be costly and embarrassing.
